Biography

Rodrigo de la Cadena is a multifaceted young artist with a passion for the Golden Age of romantic Bolero music, ( which includes composers and singers such as Agustin Lara , Gonzalo Curiel, Maria Grever , Pedro Vargas , Amparo Montes and Álvaro Carrillo as well as many trios). He has a repertoire of more than 900 songs as well as his own original material. Rodrigo not only has had the professional support of artists such as Armando Manzanero , Roberto Cantoral , Lucho Gatica , Carlos Lico , Imelda Miller , Enrique Chia , Gualberto Castro , Chamin Correa , the late Pepe Jara , and Jose Jose , but their inconditional friendship and support, something that very few artists have these days.

Every Saturday from 9:00pm to 11:00pm on RadioTrece 1290 AM, Rodrigo offers two straight hours of romance and memories of the great years of romantic bolero music with special guest appearances on each show. This program is broadcast to all parts of Mexico.

Rodrigo began singing at a very young age in Mexico City 's major stages such as the National Auditorium, Metropolitan Theatre, Libanés Theatre, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM), La Salle University; and also in the most important hotels and night clubs in Mexico City such as The Sheraton Hotel, the Mayan Palace Hotel, The Lunario (part of the National Auditorium) the Gabanna Dinner Club, the Mascabrothers night club and the Bar Prim.

He has recorded three albums, the first one titled "Nuevamente... El Bolero" which was recorded in the studios of the album's label Orfeon. It includes songs by the most influential songwriters of bolero music and contains 12 tracks which were chosen out of 30 studio recordings. More recently he has recorded his second album "AMOR EN BOLERO " with his own group of 22 musicians. "It has always been my dream to sing a collection of boleros with an orchestra and everything turned out even better than I expected" says the young artist who not only played the piano and the guitar in each selection but also produced the album and arranged the music. In addition, he recites romantic poetry by the well known poets Armado Nervo and Martin Galas. His third album "La Bohemia del Amor" is a very special and historical compact disc in which Rodrigo alternates with other great artists such as Gualberto Castro, Ana Cirré, Fernando Ibarra and Yoshio.

Rodrigo has been invited to perform in almost every International Festival of Bolero in Mexico as well as in festivals in Ecuador, Cuba, Colombia, Argentina, Panama, and the USA where he has appeared in the most important stages these countries have to offer. This year, 2008, he will be making appearances in Miami, San Antonio, Merida and Ecuador as well as recording his fourth album which will include, for the first time, some of his original compositions. Among other surprises in this recording will be a duet with Carlos Lico. This highly gifted young man with an incredibly beautiful voice has come a long way in just 20 years and is destined for a future among Latin America's greatest singers.
